Too noble for the pitch and yaw of friendship, Theresa
sailed the halls of high school alone.
Waves of dewy friendship crashing all around her,
she arrives at graduation high and dry.
Sentimental speeches and crying friends clinging to one another
leave her unmoved,
but the simple crossing of the stage brings home the sure knowledge
that passing through life alone is too hard.
Too late for this stage of life, she has learned what will redeem her.
She must change.
