This day was all about fame and popularity. From the place where Of Men and Monsters practiced, to the worlds oldest parliament, then on to the geyser named Geysir, and the Golden Waterfall, We managed to cover a lot of ground.
Stitched in among all the walking and wool gathering was an airplane ride from Akureyri to Reykjavik, then bus ride from Reykjavik to Selfoss. Think flight from the North to the South corners of the island, then bus from West to East. The bus ride encompassed all of what most tourists to Iceland will see. It was the highlight reel.
But one of the people we spoke to while waiting for Strokkur geyser to perform said they had taken the rough road all the way around the island. I was jealous. Think of the bragging rights! He said it wasn’t worth the effort. Apparently their RV had not enjoyed the sometimes difficult road.
Personally, I was glad to have experienced The Golden Circle for future reference. Still, I was also glad to leave the crowds behind.
