If you squint at the picture above you can see a brown sign to the left of the fire danger sign that has an arrow pointing to the right. It’s supposed to be a trail head marker. But it’s pointing at a wall.
In the last couple of weeks I’ve been gearing up my exercise routine in preparation for my upcoming trip to Bali. I’m a little worried about keeping up.
Hey, they will probably all be older than me, and have already gotten their hip replacement surgeries out of the way. I’m at a disadvantage here.
The thing that worries me the most is dealing with the uphill climbs. The obnoxious bone spurs are growing round my hip joint like a deadly crown. Going up angles hurts. Then again, everything hurts so I suppose it’s par for the course.
Anyway, I was looking for a place to do some uphill walking. Even if I don’t use it for training, I can at least test myself.
I was not amused to be sent into a wall. Ever undaunted, I bicycled all the way around the enclosure to find there really was a trail head on the other side of a utilities thing. It’s a nice one too.
I didn’t get very far before deciding I’m going to have to get some of those trekking poles. But I did prove to myself I’m no longer a complete cripple. I can do it.
