13 Steps to the Aryabal Meditation Temple

Early in the trip we went for a hike up to a Buddhist Temple. We were supposed to do some meditation there, but the monk was on vacation, so all we did was walk up and back.

1. We started at the gift shop.

2. I don’t remember how many miles we went, but it was a good long hike.

3. Ovoo we went past.

4. Once through the gates of the temple grounds, there’s a sloping path that goes past a number of preachy signs. The signs say things like, “Mind used to bad thoughts is hard to get straightened like a paper being rolled up.”

5. At the midpoint is a wheel of fortune. You spin the wheel then match the number pointed to at the top with whatever is on the signs.

6. The fortunes are on the long signs on the left

7.A little shrine along the way

8. Hanging bridge. Yep, big drop to the ravine below, every step sways. One of those. I was too busy taking pictures to be bothered.

9. Like this one.

10. Once across the bridge and down a short path, there were still 100 steps left to go.

11. The meditation hall. Imagine people sitting around chanting sutras.

12. Back outside and off to the right. Of course I had to see if there was anything there.

13. Yep. There was.
