Caribbean Shakespeare

Mr. Al, The Girl, and I went to see Shakespeare at the local university recently. It was an interesting take on the play A Comedy of Errors. The kept the original Shakespearean wording, but moved the setting to a Caribbean island. All the scene changes were accomplished under cover of beach revelers dancing. What a hoot!

The slapstick humor was really, really well done. In the prologue, they used puppets to demonstrate the family of twins being separated, and even the handling of the puppets was fun. They may only be students (mostly), but they did a fantastic performance.

We followed Shakespeare with a movie – Iron Man 3

This is one of those big-image, fast and light stories, however there is a man-falling-apart motif running all the way through that I loved. In so many ways it shows how dependent Tony Stark has become on his suit of armor. The motif extends to the bag guys in a way, as they lose their balance and in doing so, lose their lives.

Thumbs up for both. I had fun.
