13 Moon Song Videos

Last week Heather featured 13 songs about the moon. It got me to wondering how many and what kind of moon songs are out there. So I did a search on YouTube. These are some of the ones I liked.

By George! Where Queen Caroline Ended Up

George IV might not have been able to divorce his queen, but he could still cut her out of his life. Including his coronation.

Queen Caroline had spent several weeks getting ready to attend the coronation. She had even sent a letter to her husband, asking him what she should wear. Rather cheeky, that. It was returned, unopened, “in uniformity with a resolution adopted more than twenty years ago, and since invariably adhered to by the King.” Lord Liverpool assured His Majesty that it was a tempest in a tea pot. Nothing would come of it. She would no doubt make threats, then ask for money in exchange for dropping her plans.

His Majesty wasn’t so complacent. He was worried to distraction that she was planning something, anything, to ruin his Big Day. Caroline certainly expected to be allowed into the abbey, at the very least, to sit with the royal family. After all, wasn’t she the Queen? She was, indeed, the Queen. But the King had ordered her to be excluded from all ceremonies at all costs and there was no legal precedent that could change that.

Books and Shoes

About a month ago, when my life was as intense as it’s ever been, Gattina tagged me for a show-me-your-shoes meme. At the time I barely noticed. Now, finally, my life is looking more normal. I remember that I said I’d do it, then didn’t. Well, better late than never.

These are the shoes I wear every day. I wear them in the house and out of it. I wear them with pants, skirts, and bathrobes. Except for about two hours when I wore a stylish pair of flats that put blisters on my heels, I wore my crocks all through the Romance Writers of America convention. Except for a tendency for conversations about shoes to break out around me in which mine were not even glanced at, I seem to have gotten away with it.

See the book cover to the left? Thats one of dozens of books I had shipped home from the convention. It’s about a woman who has no intention of ever getting married that finds an antique wedding dress in an old trunk, which she purchased at auction while sitting next to a guy who would like to change her mind.

I expect you’ll be seeing a lot more of the books I got at the convention as time goes by. This one is very, very gently used, as I’ve decided it isn’t really my cup of tea. Would you like it? Say so in any of the comments you leave between now and Friday and I’ll put you in a drawing for it.

Egg Unroll

I make a lot of egg rolls in my house. I don’t quite follow the recipe. As a result I’ll often find when I’m done I have an abundance of filling left over. It isn’t enough to be worth buying and extra package of egg roll wraps for, but enough that I’m not comfortable simply tossing it out. So:

I hollow out an dent in the middle of the egg roll filling, drop a raw egg into it, and microwave for 2-3 minutes. Tastes great. Serves one.

Jack: Yep.

Jill: I knew it was a mistake to keep him.

Jack: Don’t go blaming the dog. I put him up to it.

Jill: You?! What ever for?

Jack: Entertainment. The TV is broken.

Suzie’s House 124 : Unpunished

Suzie's House

Gene refused to look up. Instead, he crumbled the cookie on the plate Mrs. Hammacker had put in front of him. He didn’t dare look at Ben, because then Ben would expect him to back him up. He didn’t dare look at Mrs. Hammacker, because she might ask questions. For sure Kathy the Social Worker would ask questions. Probably ask even if he didn’t look. And Lisa. Gene had no idea what to make of Lisa.

He hunched over the kitchen table and tried to pretend this wasn’t all happening to him.

“Did you hear about Johnson in Marketing?”

“The handsome man who rides a motorcycle to work?”

“That’s the one. He’s been fired.”

“What? Oh no! How did it happen?”

“He was almost caught in the copy room with his pants down.”

“Pft! Almost doesn’t count.”

“He left copies behind, if you know what I mean.”
