There’s a wall here in town where anyone can paint anything they like. It’s quite large – about one story tall and several yards long. Here are some of the things that have been painted on it.
Tentative, Suzie wasn’t sure if she should run outside to find out what the loud scrape and boom was or upstairs to see why Tracy had raced past. Gene took off after Tracy, so Suzie opted for the back yard.
When she stepped out, she found Miranda standing over the old painting ladder. From the way the held her hands out while turning away from it, Suzie guessed that Miranda had just dropped it.
“What are you doing? I thought you were going to take Tracy home.”
“Yeah, yeah. Later. Look.” Miranda pointed at Gene’s window on the second floor.
Nameless by Kwee Lewis keeps flirting with the “reality” if it’s own storyline so I can never be sure what’s coming next. Well done, Kwee.
This is the hub for The Serialists, a meme for people who post original, serialized fiction on their blogs. If you have one or more posts you would like for us to read, please put a direct link to the post(s) in the linky.
If you are not an author and would only like to read, then please leave a comment. I may feature you next week.
Most of you didn’t get around to comment on very many of each other’s work last week, so I’m leaving last week’s linky up in my sidebar a little longer, and am including it again here. I’ll switch them out in a bit.
This award was given to me by TF Walsh
Thank you TF Walsh!
Usually these awards come with some kind of requirement – maybe something about which kinds of fellow bloggers I should pass it to, or how many, or some such. If this one has such things, they were long since gone by the time I got it. So I’m going to happily give it to some reading friends since bookish people are on my mind right now with the launch of Win A Book still under way.
I’d like to pass this along to a few people:
Beth Fish
Laurel-Rain Snow
Joy
Cherie Reich
Karen and Gerard
Rebecca
Laya
Crystal
Heather
“How should I take this,” you ask? Like this.
He gives me glimpses; like bits of gold glittering in a mudslide, stars shining through a fog, or tidbits of truth in the newspaper – each glimpse a nova.

They are still here, when they want to be, which isn’t often. Mostly it’s after school activities, and hanging with their friends. They don’t need me to drive them anymore. They don’t need me to cook for them, though I still do. They can stand on their own two feet. It makes me sad, a little, and glad even more.
The challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to write a story in exactly 55 words. Flash Fiction 55 is hosted by the G-man, a host with the most.

“Tracy, go home.” Mrs. H. spoke quietly but Tracy could tell she was serious.
“But…”
“This is not a mystery book, and you are not Nancy Drew. It’ll be curfew by the time you get home. Go now.”
“Nancy who?”
“Criminy.” Mrs. H. slumped into the kitchen counter with her hand on her forehead.
I love Ann’s stories about Vince, an apocalyptic anti-hero. She posted a nice one last week.

I’m giving a copy of Moving In away in celebration of the launch of Win a Book.
Moving In is the story of a homebody who moves into the downstairs apartment of a converted house at the same time that a doctor moves into the upstairs apartment. The two of them get tangled together starting with their luggage and moving right through their hearts. It’s a sweet romance with a strong hearth and home theme.
To get a copy, leave a comment here between now and Tuesday night (Oct 18th). I’ll announce the winner in my sidebar on Wednesday.
Moving In is only available in ebook form. International entries are welcome.
Finally, it’s here! With permission from Susan Helene Gottfried, I’ve started my own version of Win a Book. Susan will continue with the Facebook page, while I do my own thing here..
I’m lazy, so I automated it. The listings section automatically updates itself based on what is submitted. I will check up on it regularly and make sure spa m is removed along with outdated entries, but for the most part I expect it to run itself.
There are already a couple of entries up. I expect, as word gets out, that there will be much more. Since I write Romance, I’ll probably get mostly Romance entries from my fellow authors. Still, you might find all kinds of things posted. Come by and check it out any time you’re in the mood to see what you can win.
Jill: So that’s what took you two so long. That’s a pity. Just when I thought it would be worth the weight.
