“Courtney? Courtney…. Love?” Tracy touched the K.C. carved into the guitar as she spoke.
Gene watched her do it, and wanted to touch it too, to feel how rough it was, like he could get a sliver if he weren’t careful. Instead, he stuck to the wall next to Mrs. H. and watched.
“Yeah, Courtney Love of Hole. She used to be my room mate.” Fran glowered from where she sat all tied up to the chair. “I hung out with the guys from Hole and Nirvana all the time.”
This week I’d like to welcome Altonian to the mix. Several of you already know about his tales of Wicca. I’m hoping the rest of you will find him interesting, too. Altonian, you gave us a three part off-spur last week. How about joining in here with the main serial?

No, Jannie, they aren’t marital devices for Jack and Jill. They are earrings made of origami cranes. These are the smallest hand-made paper cranes I’ve ever seen – made from paper that is only an inch and a half wide.
I thought I’d sell them on Etsy.
Anyway, Happy Halloween, everyone.
She found it on the bathroom floor. About the right size and shape, it looked exactly like the back of her son’s head. She kicked it gently; relieved it was only hair until she realized what that meant.

Jack: I really wanted to buy these earrings for Jill. I know she’ll love them. But I’m broke.

After the water and the cold
the leaves turned to gold on the trees
then succumbed to the wind.
Twirling lightly, fluttering like
tired butterflies
they fell on the streets and yards.
Everywhere, falling
drifting like snow
When a car drove past they took re-flight
before coming up flush with the curb
like discarded newspaper

Tracy had that look in her eye again. Gene wasn’t sure if he should be thrilled or scared. Well, as long as it wasn’t directed at him, it was all good. The smile kept coming and going, too, which on Tracy could only mean trouble.
But what was really scary, is Mrs. H.’s friend Miranda got that same look in her eye. And they were both eying Fran, who was tied up in a chair like a bug in a spider’s web. And Gene got the feeling when it came to Fran, Tracy and Miranda could read each other’s minds. It kind of inclined him to feel vulnerable, unless it was just a figment of his imagination..
Julia’s most recent installment of Scorpius has such a wonderfully playful tone. I love it. And I appreciate how everyone else got out to visit one another.

I just got two kittens from the animal shelter. Sorry, I haven’t stopped to take pictures yet, but I’ll get to that.
So, I’m wondering…
Costumes? Or not?
Sorry this took so long. We never did get any good lighting with mostly rain, and then when I started to upload the photos, the kids demanded attention. Anyway, here they are. This is Icarus:
And Diana
Tina’s pet sitting business gave her great joy. She got to spend so much time with the kitties and doggies. She did it all year long. The only night she hated checking on the animals was Halloween.

Jack: I know who did this, but where could she be?

Maniacal laughter from the street
Though rain and cold should drive everyone indoors
Won’t stop
Mechanical?
So repetitious
A Halloween doll on someone’s porch
Set off by a passing hand.
But no. It changes,
Rising in pitch,
Becoming desperate.
A lunatic released from the asylum?
A quick check, twitch of the curtain.
Ah….
It’s nothing
But a drunken witch.
