There is not a hub for PhotoHunt today. There might be one next week, or there might not. In the meanwhile there is no list of themes, and therefor nothing for Jack and Jill to play off of. So far my other ideas for Jack and Jill have not yet panned out. So, I thought I’d do a little retrospective.
Anyone remember these?
Will you remember this moment? There have been so many that slipped through our fingers like sand, leaving nothing but residue. Will these white walls covered in loving bric-a-brac remain? Will you still have a mind left, or will you be like Algernon; reduced to drool and nothing but a vague feeling of dissatisfaction? You scare me.
The challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to write a story in exactly 55 words. Flash Fiction 55 is hosted by the G-man, a host with the most.
When Drew said, “Maria’s waiting. You’ll be staying with us,” Vin’s heart sank. It sounded like Drew had done the very thing Suzie had feared – found a new love. Vin didn’t want that. Suzie and Drew were too good a match. In Vin’s mind, the future was about himself and Miranda hanging out with Drew and Suzie. How could there be any other way? He stepped out of the airport in Drew’s wake and found at least part of the answer.
Welcome back both Julia and Altonian. I’m glad to see you bringing out new episodes.
This is the hub for The Serialists, a meme for people who post original, serialized fiction on their blogs. If you have one or more posts you would like for us to read, please put a direct link to the post(s) in the linky.
If you are not an author and would only like to read, then please leave a comment. I may feature you next week.
I ran into not one, but two brick walls last week. These are walls that you, personally, might notice.
The first was the collapse of TNChick as the hub for PhotoHunt. For the last two or three years, ever since there were some health issues in her family, she has been unable to really tend the hub, but this closing down was no real surprise. She did at least offer it up for grabs, so the meme itself stands a chance of continuing. However, because of the nature of Jack and Jill, there’s a good chance I won’t know what the next theme is supposed to be in time to get one posted.
I’ve been thinking, though, that if I’m unable to do the usual thing with Jack and Jill, I might want to do something else with it. So even if I no longer do PhotoHunt, I might still be able to continue on with Jack and Jill. It will depend on how things go over the next month.
The second wall with the suspension of Sunday 160 by it’s creator, Monkey Man. This one is apparently not being offered up to others, merely taking an unlimited break. If I were him, I’d let someone I trust keep it warm until he’s ready to take it back. He’s done a wonderful job of building this one up, and it’s sad to see it fall apart.
For the time being, I think I’ll keep my own Sunday’s warm with a quick picture post every Sunday. Again, there’s no telling what I ultimately end up doing on those days.
Why is it that she can write 100,000 words in a couple of months, has done it time and again, but can’t come up with 160 characters when she wants them?
Monkey Man hosts the 160 Character Challenge. See what you can write in 160 characters or less, spaces included.
Jill: What are you doing?!
Jack: I’m getting ripped.
Jill: That isn’t ripped. That’s torn.
Today’s theme is Ripped
Previously in Jack and Jill: Potty

“So you wrote a book. Big deal. It’s not like you’ve never done it before. Are you going to earn anything from it? No. Does anyone really want to read it? Not likely. What kind of victory is that? You should go out and get a real job.”
Sigh. “Dad, you really have no idea.”

1. Today (Wednesday, actually, as I type this) is the last day of NaNo. Yay!
Drew wasn’t quite sure how he was supposed to behave. It shouldn’t be like this. He’d picked Vin up from the airport many times in their long history together. It should be routine. If it weren’t for the odd way the crowd seemed to mob him when he knew in reality they were merely walking past, then it probably would be routine.
