The descent begins
with a shaking of self confidence.
A mistake, an accusation, a failing
anything can begin the fall
.
The cover up, and the denial
speeds the steps,
making us rush
into the pit
ever faster.

The degradation of honor
can cause an exhilaration
Which does not survive the end.

Eventually, the steps run out.
