I had the slickest 4th of July celebration this year. The family packed into a car, went down to the mall where the fireworks were going to be lit with hardly any traffic between, found a spot in a packed lot in less than fifteen minutes, and got out of the car just as the first fireworks hit the sky. We didn’t bother hiking the few yards to the main seating, which was just part of the parking lot anyway. […]
The Girl had been pushing me to hang out on Tumblr.com. Not really my thing, but I found some fun stuff.
1. 2. I was going to do 13 illustrations. Put it off too long, and now I’m too tired. 3. I gave my hubby a bunch of Dove chocolate hearts which I laid out on his desk in the shape of a huge heart. He loved it. 4. I should have taken a picture. 5. By the time I realized it would make a good post, he’d already hidden them from me. 6. I’m back in the Diabetes and Heart […]
Of course that does not mean I’m done. It just means I did 50,000 words this month so far. So, what now? 1. Finish the plot line. I’m in the middle of the climax now. I should be able to finish the book in the next few days. 2. Take a moment to appreciate the fact that I have written at least one new rough draft every year since 2000. Before that I’d never actually finished even the rough draft […]
I actually started my New Years resolutions a month ago. Sometimes resolve takes more than a year to bear fruit. 1. Write for at least an hour every day 2. Get more exercise 3. Do more sewing 4. Eat more fruit 5. Eat less fat 6. Deal with my left hip 7. Get a new car 8. Stay on top of my finances 9. Not procrastinate 10. Be more affectionate 11. Fix up this blog 12. Lose thirty pounds 13. […]
It started off with a search for images to use on labels for gift wrap. We have a large collection of decorative cloth bags for wrapping Christmas gifts. Not only is it more ecological, it’s quicker and easier to grab a bag. Unluckily, the sticky labels I usually get at the store wont stay on. I need the kind of card stock with a hole type, but either can’t find them or they are ridiculously expensive. So I make my […]
I’m cooking right now. So far these are all the things I’ve had to go into the cellar, or the store, to get. 1. A can of crab meat. Ended up at the store for this one. 2. Cooking oil 3. Nuts 4. Baking powder 5. Baking powder. Yes, again. I couldn’t believe I really honestly didn’t have any in the house. 6. Cream of tartar, because I was in no mood to go back to the store when I’d […]
