Is Captive Nightmare. If your story was in the top 5, please come and claim your entry. Alice
Round Four of Challenge 3 closes today. The ranking votes are nearly in. The winner will be chosen in the next three days. And we are all getting heartily sick of Ben and Tara. It’s like David Damien and Patience all over again! Unlike Avon, we have some latitude, and we are taking advantage of it. We are going to take a break from Challenge 3 to do a quick, one-chapter round. Challenge 4. And it is a blast! We […]
We interrupt this previously scheduled vacation discussion yet again for something more interesting. Avon FanLit. It’s Tessa’s fault. She set me off with a question on her blog. Not that anyone would be surprised. I have lots and lots of strong opinions about the way Avon FanLit was run. First, the question of where they should advertise – they should put a large ad in Romance Writer’s Review at least a month in advance. I know, easier said than done, but they would […]
Cindy! Not only did Cindy take first place in the second round of FanLit Forever’s Challenge Three, she also placed both of her other two entries in the top five. Take a bow Cindy. A most impressive accomplishement Alice
Challenge 3 Round 2 ranking polls close today at noon. It is still possible to make comments after the polls close, but you must ge your votes in now. Mama Alice.
Per usual I am busy judging for an RWA contest and voting in FanLit Forever at the same time. In Challenge 2 it was the Golden Heart. This round it’s The Lauries hosted by From The Heart Romance Writers. It really brings to mind some basic differences. For one thing, the RWA contest try to counteract personal biases. You are supposed to score based on the quality of the writing rather than whether or not you personally like it. Tastes […]
Yep, the round closes at 11 pm Mountain Standard Time tonight. I figured out what the schedule glitch was. We added two days to make up for the emergency poll, but I forgot to fix the calander. I have two entries in progress with high hopes of getting them both in. Suzie only needs a quick polish, and will be posted late, late tonight or fairly early tomorrow. And I’m going to be “Least In Sight” for a few hours here. […]
The requirement for the second round is “something goes wrong.” No Patience’s cat writes a letter or she enters a ball late and leaves before midnight. Simply take the story from where the Round One winner left off and have something go wrong. As mentioned before, we had a little dust-up with respect to the winner. So we took the five entries with the best average score and put them in a poll. The entries are: Mistaken Identity Redemption By […]
We had ourselves some fun over on FanLit Forever. The winner didn’t want to accept the crown. We ended up putting it to a vote. New schedule: Vote for the winning entry closes Monday at noon Mountain Standard Time. Submissions accepted for Round Two beginning Tuesday at noon and close February 20th at 11pm. Alice
Just a reminder, the submissions aren’t due until FRIDAY, folks. You’ve got an extra day to work on them. But don’t slack off and make me post them all on Friday at midnight, please. Even I sleep sometime. Alice
Hey Tessa, blogger won’t let me post on your blog right now. I’ve been having problems with them all over the place. Anyway, just wanted to tell you I love the line and Damien getting whomped by candlesticks. Alice
We have several polls set up on FanLit Forever to determine how we are going to work Challenge 3. I think we are fairly safe in assuming the poll to determine how many chapters the challenge will run is going to result in a 6-chapter challenge. Won’t it be nice to get away from these one-chapter challenges? Anyway, I’m going to write this blog entry on the assumption that we are working with 6 chapters, a maximum of three entries […]
The rankings for the FanLit Forever Challenge 2 have been posted. If you entered something into Challenge 2, go claim your kudos. Alice
Challenge 2 closes tonight. If you’re going to go in and do some reading, maybe give some scores, you’ve got to do it in the next few hours. Challenge 2 is being developed right now. If you’d like a say in how many chapters it will run, what the premise will be, etc. then you better get down to The Polling Booth in FanLit, The Game on FanLit Forever. Alice
