It’s just a basic method of making omelets. butter or margarine 2 eggs a splash of milk some cheese stuff 🙂 Stuff can be onions, bell pepper, tomato, ham, sausage, mushroom, or anything else you like. I highly recommend getting the stuff ready by chopping it into manageable pieces before you grab your frying pan. crack the eggs into a bowl and mix with a fork. You need […]

Cranberry Jam

I was going for Cranberry Jelly Mold for Thanksgiving dinner, but missed. It worked out remarkably well. The problem was that I didn’t have a sieve. I had the cranberries, water, and sugar on to boil, and no sieve. The problem with that is that if you leave the cranberry skins intact, you don’t get enough pectin for it to set. Yes, we could have done relish instead, but I got this bright idea and just had to run with […]

Chopped Onions, a Comparison of Techniques

I use chopped onions often enough that I frequently freeze it in batches for later use. When I do the chopping, I’ll do several onions at a time. Needless to say, I’d like to make it as quick and easy, and tear-free as I can. On the left side of the picture above is a pile of onions chopped the way I like them when I do it by hand. This is the size I grew up using and would […]

Home Made Instant Pie

My mother gave me this. It’s a jar of pie filling that she made. All I had to do was make a crust, pour this stuff into the crust, and bake at 375 for about half an hour. It came out tasting great, and disappeared the same day it came out of the oven. The recipe for this and other canned pie fillings can be found here. . . .

Sprinkle onions over the top. Pour cranberry juice over chicken and onions. Put in 350 deg oven for 45 minutes or until done. See. I told you it was […]

Penut Butter and Jelly

What?  Me, desperate?  Just because I’m having trouble posting pictures, or getting my files together, and have all my recipes on my desktop when I’m forced to use the laptop….   Anyway, here it is.  I’ve recently learned how to make the ultimate PBJ.   Spread the penutbutter very thick on one side of the first piece of bread.  Put the second piece of bread on the first without adding anything.  Spread the jelly thick on the third piece of […]

The Yummy Summer Snack Book

This week instead of offering a recipe, I’m offering a book. I never got much use of this one because I got the book with the intention of sharing it with my kids. They out grew it before we used it. There are some great recipes in it, but when ever I reach for a book, It’s generally Better Homes and Gardens, or The Kid’s Favorites, or some such. If you have little kids, I think you’ll like this one. […]
