Anybody know how to get the little curvy Spanish thing over the n? We sailed over night from Santa Cruz to Española. Talk about a bumpy ride! We were only just getting used to the motion of the boat, and didn’t sleep well. But it was worth it when we arrived. 1. We started the day at Suarez Point where we snorkeled and hung out on a beach with sea lions.
I’m back. Now I’m busy. 🙂 1. Unpack 2. Download all the pictures I took. 3. Deal with some people who expected me to fix a fan while I was gone. 4. Send out letters I meant to send before I left 5. Finish painting the living room 6. Finish making a quilt 7. Wipe off all the paint stripper on the kitchen cabinets that did nothing but smell. 8. Come visit your blog. 9. Paint the bathroom 10. Replace […]

We bought a fixer-upper recently, and have to do a lot of work to make it habitable. So naturally I’m down at the lumber yard a lot. I go to Lowe’s most of the time because they are reasonably priced (mostly) and don’t look down on me for wandering the aisles in my skirt and clogs. This is my most recent experience. 1. Movers can get a special discount from Lowe’s – 10% off. It’s good for up to a […]
On Monday’s and sometimes Wednesdays I post stuff people have forwarded to me in email. I know, like you haven’t already seen it. In a few weeks, that will probably change as I make some adjustments to my lineup. Anyway, this is from one of those emails.
Heather expressed concern that I might not have enough reading material just because I’m actually re-reading a book. I’ll admit it isn’t something I make a habit of, but I think this will show that I do have some choice here: For more lists of Thirteen, visit Thursday Thirteen
1. Figure out whether or not you can afford to buy a house, and if so, what kind. A quick and dirty method is to compare how much you are likely to have to pay in mortgage, property tax, and homeowner’s insurance with how much you are paying in rent right now. If they come out close, and you don’t intend to move in the next ten years, it’s a no-brainer. Buy a house. You can get most of this […]
The Girl wants to be a mangaka – that’s someone who draws graphic novels. She’s been working on her craft. These, along with most of my buttons, were drawn by her.
1. Trying to put together the Thursday Thirteen showing you The Girls’ artwork. I thought I’d have it done tonight, but looks like not. 2. Stay awake for a few more minutes. 3. Come up with a home loan. 4. Negotiate with a real estate agent. 5. Get a job 6. Sell a few books. 7. Finish writing a book. 8. Help Mr. Al recover from a medical procedure. Don’t ask. No, seriously, don’t ask. 9. Send out a couple […]
Heather posted her last Art Zoobalie picture recently, and got me to thinking I’d never shared the picture I took. So, here they are. 🙂
A while back my daughter suggested a number of topics for Thursday Thirteen lists. One of them was electrical cords. She had Mr. Al in mind when she said it, but I’m lazy, so I’m going the much easier route of listing my own electrical cords. These are all plugged into my computer. 1. The power cord 2. The cord to the monitor 3. The one to the cable service/ISP 4. The one to the printer 5. The one to […]
