Categotry Archives: Talk To Me Tuesday

I was wrong.

A few weeks ago I blogged about how high the water was in the river. This time of year that is not uncommon, but the degree seemed a bit much. I was wrong. I tried to get before and after pictures so you could see how much it has risen. No such luck. See where the trees are in the water? that’s where I was standing before. But what really impressed both Mr. Al and I was this – the […]

I Want a Daihatsu

They don’t sell Daihatsu in the USA, but it’s owned by Toyota, so maybe I can get my hands on one. If I could see one up close and personal, I might change my mind, but for now, I’m drooling. Are you wondering what the appeal is? Right now I’m driving a big, honking gas guzzler. We’re talking 15 mph with a tail wind. We’re talking seats 10 if we put all the seats back in. Parking is a pain, […]

Mercury Retrograde

This post isn’t really about Mercury Retrograde. It isn’t even about my blasted keyboard. It’s about stupidity. I’m not really into astrology. I looked into it a couple of times, but never really clicked with it. So I don’t read my horoscope or anything like that. But after a particularly vicious trip which took place during a Mercury Retrograde, I’ve had a healthy respect for the effect. It comes down to this. During Mercury Retrograde – which is when Mercury […]

How's it going where you are?

It’s Spring. Of course the river is up. No real flooding, but it’s still impressive when you think of what it’s like in the fall. It’s up at least five feet right now. But that is still lower than it was a couple days ago. Don’t know why it went down when it’s been rainy. So how about you? Anything interesting going on with the weather?

Warm Snow

This is a picture I took out of my kitchen window. If you look closely enough near the top you will see a thermometer reading 60 deg F. If you look down, you’ll see snow on the grass. Welcome to Montana.

Are You Having Problems Leaving Comments?

It’s getting to the point where I cringe every time I see this screen. The vast majority of the time if I see this, it means I’m not going to be able to leave a comment. I’ve tried everything. I’ve used every part of the form that could conceivably be applied to me. No go. I cleared out my cookies. I made sure my pop ups were set right. Nothing I do seems to make a difference. Am I the […]

eMail Imbalance

Mr. Al tends to write long letters. Surprised? *grin* They are, of course, very entertaining and enjoyable letters, but it isn’t unheard of for him to go on for 15 paragraphs. We aren’t talking dinky paragraphs either. This is all fine and well until it’s time for whomever he emailed to reply. For some silly reason, some of his correspondents seem to think they need to write equally long and witty emails in reply. If you’ve read By George! then […]

Ick Factor

One of the things fiction writers hear from the publishing industry is that our stories should not have too great and “ick factor”. By that they mean scenes that are likely to turn readers off because of the emotional response to them. This could mean anything from unsavory relationships in a love story to graphic details of the squicky kind. Mind you, some is allowed, provided it doesn’t go beyond odd and into ugh. Unluckily for me, I tend to […]

Tax Season

Tax Season actually started a while ago. I’m a book keeper, not a tax accountant, but I still end up doing some fairly hairy taxes. I’m in the thick of it now. I probably wont be done with all of them until April. By now you should have received all the 1099s you are going to. There might still be a few K1s floating out there, but if you’re doing a Schedule C you should have all your records lined […]

What Are You Afraid Of?

The boy has been playing around on Google lately. He says the thing most people want to know is how to set the table. I’m not sure if I believe it, but I happen to have an expert on tap – someone who used to teach Meal Management at a university – so I’m putting together a short series of blogs talking all about it. He said a few minutes ago that the thing people fear the most is heights. […]

Does This Scare You?

I’m not ready. Worse, I don’t think my kids are even close to being able to handle this.

Alaskan Clydesdale ?

This is the sort of thing I usually do on Mondays because it’s one of those forwarded email things, but I’m wondering what you think, so here it is on Talk To Me Tuesday. Here’s what I originally received along with the picture above: > ALASKAN CLYDESDALE > > > Only in Alaska……. This guy raised an abandoned moose calf with his horses, and believe it or not, he has trained it for lumber removal and other hauling tasks. Given […]

What Did You Get?

For Valentines day, what did you get? Mr. Al gave me this great bouquet, dinner out with our daughter, and the next installment of By George! I gave him a chocolate bear. I know, I owe him big time. So, if you’ve got a Honey, what did he/she give you? What did you give in return? If you don’t, did you treat yourself? What did you get?

Choose Your Battles

more animals Did you ever pick a fight that was too big for you, or were convinced you were in the right, but turns out you weren’t? I got a notice from my storage unit place that the rent was due. I’d paid for a full year in advance because you get a nice discount that way, and was absolutely sure it wouldn’t come up again until August. They kept pointing to the date in their computer as if that […]

Ready for Spring?

more animals I’m so tired of winter. Even knowing there are weeks, if not months, left to go, I’m ready for spring. I’m fed up with being cold until the heater comes on, then being too hot, driving on ice, and high heating bills. Is it too soon to be looking for a ground hog? How about you? Are you ready for a change in the weather?
