To quote a slogan making the rounds on Tumblr “I don’t have a Honey Do list. I have an I’ll Do It list. And guess what. Sht gets done.” 1. Come up with a list of 13, (Can I cross that off yet?)
1. I’d planned on doing my Thursday Thirteen on Beijing today, but I’m too tired to pull it off. Instead, I’m upholding my long time tradition of talking about things totally at random.
“Isn’t this a great neighborhood? Everything is easier here. Even this intersection. You’d think it would be a lot harder to turn left on to such a busy street. I tell you, this intersection is golden.” (ten minutes later) “Well. Sometimes it’s golden. Sometimes it just looks like it.” The challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to write a story in exactly 55 words. Flash Fiction 55 is hosted by the G-man, a host with the most.

“Don’t you love me,” she asked. “Of course, but you’re already mine.” He didn’t look up from his computer. “What if I find another?” She teased, but she was serious too. “You won’t. You’re already mine.” “I’m not a penny in your pocket. If you want me to stay, then let me know every day.” The challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to write a story in exactly 55 words. Writers are by in large a remarkably boring lot. I tend to be a bit more expressive than some, which makes it hard to write in public. I grimace, laugh out loud, tear up and generally get way too involved in whatever I’m writing so that passers by stare. Maybe it’s because a lot of what I write plays out in my head like a movie. Only one that I can stop, alter, and step into at whim. So, while […]
Straight off the top of my head. Mind you, it’s late at night as I write this, and I might be a little punch drunk. 1. Penguin
“You’ll do just about anything for a laugh, won’t you,” he said “Yep. Just about.” She grinned “Have you no dignity?” “Nope. Dignity is too expensive.” It wasn’t until years later, thinking of all the times he let people go, or went away hurt for the sake of dignity that he understood. On a warm, summer’s evening on the patio, Amy and her best friend waxed philosophical. “In my previous incarnation I was Marie Antoinette.” Amy took a sip of wine and waited for Rebecca to argue. “No you weren’t. You couldn’t have been.” Rebecca spoke with complete conviction. “How do you know? Do you have any proof?” “Because I was Marie Antoinette.” The challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to write a story in exactly 55 words. Flash Fiction […]
His former lover came to visit. She couldn’t help but remember the night the ex stayed over – how she bounded across the darkened living room to the couch like a deer in a field. Yet when it came to the choice between hiking around in the park with them or getting the dishes done she said, “have fun” with a wave. The challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to write a story in exactly 55 words. Flash […]
“I can’t go yet. I have to hurry up and get my post ready.” “What post?” “Fiction Friday 55.” “Wait, it’s Friday already? How did that happen? I was sure it was still Thursday.” “It IS Thursday. Thursday night, which is when Fiction Friday 55 begins. You know how it goes. In the Internet, Friday begins on Thursday night.” The challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to write a story in exactly 55 words. Flash Fiction 55 is […]
It takes time to realize that the world has indeed ended and everyone that matters is long gone and the screaming, yawning void inside can’t be filled by tears. It takes time for the tattered remains of purpose in life to knit back into the fabric of a day. For the joy of survival to carry any meaning and for life to go on. It takes time The challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to write a story […]
