1,000 Posts

This is my 1,000th post. It took me just short of three years to reach this milestone. I’ve reached a few other milestones too. For instance, as of today I have 9,383 comments in my archives. I’ve been viewed 69,592 times. I have approximately 500 links coming in to me. (Technoroti doesn’t count them all) I have received 12 awards. And I have meet some fascinating people. I still vividly remember the whole journey.

By George! will be late this week.

Mr. Al forgot to write it until Tuesday, which is cutting it a little too close for me since he wasn’t done when I went to bed.

Do You Tweet?

I just joined Twitter. I’ve been holding off because I was afraid it would turn into a huge time drain, but that hasn’t been the case. In fact, I kind of wish it was a little more so. So far I am only following five people. I’d like to follow more. So, if you are also on Twitter, let me know your user name and I will gladly add you to my list.

T-13: Things to Do With Your Fingers

Featured post: http://www.thestraws.net/2009/03/12/thursday-thirteen-2/ and http://www.thestraws.net/2009/03/05/thursday-thirteen/ These are the T13 posts I tried to feature last week but couldn’t find the links for. Here are thirteen things you can do with your fingers, including some suggestions from my kids. 1. Poke people. This is The Girl’s suggestion. She greatly enjoys poking people, especially if it annoys them. 2. Turn off light switches. My son loves to do this, particularly when I need the light. 3. Type. I guess these days it’s […]

PhotoHunt

I still have no idea how Jack and Jill will be “Thankful” so I haven’t taken any pictures yet. I’ll get them posted as soon as I think of something. Update 2/28/09 9:40am I’ve got a great idea, but it’s taking me a while to get all the parts lined up. Check back in about an hour.

Meltdown

Ever have one of those days?  Or weeks or months?    Looks like I’m in for another one.  In the last week I lost my laptop, and now my desktop to bugs and glitched.  The laptop is in the repair shop, with so far no word.  The desktop will be soon to follow.   So if you don’t hear from me today, you’ll have a good idea why.

Not Enough Light

Today’s PhotoHunt is waiting for the sun to come out. It’s been so dark and cloudy for the last couple of days that I haven’t been able to get good pictures. I know, totally lame excuse, but do come back in a few hours. I’ll have it up then, even if I have to use flashlights.

A Day of Rest

I was planning on posting a comparison of chopped onions today, but it occurred to me that I have been blogging nonstop for at least a couple of months now, and you know, I think I just want to take today off.  I’ll to the onion thing next Sunday

Writer's Headgames

I’ve been trying to write a short book lately. It’s been so long since I’ve written in this format that I’m finding it a real challenge. My pacing seems to be geared for stuff that runs over 100,000 words and Suzie’s House, which is generally between 500 and 1,000 words. That and a slight rustiness had caused the process to slow way down. As a result I have to play game with myself to get any writing done. Probably the […]

My Day

I’m not a precise person, but I do tend to get a little… um… how shall we say… accountantly. What? Me, retentive? Well, sometimes. So when you all asked me to do a day in my life instead of picking something like a recipe or sewing project for me to feature, my first reaction was to pick a day. I picked Wednesday. That isn’t really fair. One day is NOT just like another for me. For instance, I’m a lot […]

What Next?

By now those who read my Sunday posts know that I am a closet Suzie Homemaker. I don’t mean to be the one on the block who always has cookies or bread coming out of the oven when someone comes to visit. I don’t try to end up in public wearing only items I made. I am NOT a quilter, I just happen to make quilts. Any advice I give, including recipes, is bound to be something I cobbled together. […]
