Seems like I’m always messing with the blog. Not so much the look – yet – but I’m making a little, tiny change in the line up. Specifically, Sunday will not be just for recipes anymore. When I set up this blog I had intended to do a number of Suzy Homemaker posts – stuff like easy sewing projects and a few minor craft activities. I’m going to start slipping them into the mix now and then. For instance, I’ll […]
I’m off working back stage at my daughter’s dance recital. I’ve done it every year for the last five. Here are thirteen things I have done because of it. 1. Paid $10 for a $1 item. Really, I could get them at the dollar store if it weren’t against the rules. 2. Forgotten everyone’s name from last year. I’m no good with names and faces. 3. Glued flowers to tutus. 4. Hemmed the backdrop while it was hanging on stage. […]
Last week Mr. Al said the prince would get help with his reputation from an unexpected quarter. He sure caught me by surprise. Relations between the Prince and his parents had been on the mend for some time. Considering how things went during dad’s illness, the fact that they were even speaking to him could be considered a major advance. But then mom went and did something that caused all of London to sit up and take notice. She […]

Andi of the Unhinged persuasion tagged me. Oh well. I knew it was only a matter of time because I could see this one going around. Here goes: You’re feeling: Not too bad. Not going to say anything more because I don’t want to jinx it. To your left: a wall. In front of that is a clock, three book cases, two file baskets. and a stack of books to go to the second hand book store. On your mind: Taxes, […]
All the cleaning suggestions that have been made in the last couple of weeks have inspired me. Here are my not-cleaning tips. 1. Designate one room as a place where no one is allowed to look. Put everything left out in the open in any other room in the house into that room. Close the door. Lock it. Vuala! You are done. 2. Tell you husband how sexy he is when he’s doing dishes. Hey, it’s true. […]
I was surfing along yesterday when I ran across a picture of four guys. This was not the usual strip-club fair of four buff guys oiled and posed with little black bow ties and not much else, just three average guys. And I immediately checked them over for do-ability. Am I twisted or what? I feel like such a dog. Unless, of course, I’m not the only “ma-am” out there giving total strangers a quick once or twice over. No. […]
It’s been an up and down sort of week, but not necessarily for me. A friend of mine was offered her first contract. I’ll have more to say about that later. The stock market has been interesting lately. I’ve read blogs in which Romance writer’s are said to be negative while seeing in other places a lot of very positive support for one another. I’ve poked around at Technorati and at Digg without really doing much there yet. And I’ve […]
I’m back. Sort of. Bad case of influenza took me down. I’m still under the weather. I’m sitting here at my desk lightheaded right now. I’ll go ahead and do the drawing for the box of Girl Scout cookies tonight and post tomorrow, but it’ll be several days before I can send out either box, as I don’t want to contaminate them. Hopefully sometime today I’ll be able to fix up all the Alice Calling links. I’m so sorry I […]
As you may have noticed, I posted my recipe yesterday instead of today. This is a permanent change. I’m going to make some other changes too. Saturdays are going to be photo days for me, which generally means Gerbil TV. I’m calling Mondays Monday Madness and will be posting stuff from the mailbag, guests bloggers other than Mr. Al, games, and whatever else comes to mind. Tuesdays will be Talk To Me Tuesday. It’s a space for all of us […]
A friend of mine has entered the American Title Contest. This contest is held by Romantic Times. The entries get votes, a little like the Avon contest. So far her entry has jumped through at least three hoops, bringing her entry into the final rounds. Those in the finals have set up a blog: Title Magic. Right now Anna Cambell is over there visiting, talking about the Black Moment. Go on, click on the link. I know you want too. […]
Due to technical difficulties there will be no Prince George blog today. And Mr. Al thought I was pressing him for the next installment for no good reason. Haruph! Alice
It wasn’t a bad week, but I had hoped for better. I managed just over 6,000 words. It seems to go better when I start early in the day, and when I focus on what I need to write, and not how many pages I’m shooting for. Alice
It’s been a bad day. There’s no way I’ll get Suzie up anytime soon. I’m going to shoot for next Friday. Alice
