Gosh, Thanks.

Jack: Help!!! Jill: What’s up with Raoul? Jack: He’s mad because he still can’t get the dress off. Bye, Raoul! And thanks! Jill: Here, let me get you down from there. But what on Earth are you thanking him for? Jack: He has good taste in beer. Today’s theme is thankful. Suzie’s House 106: Hearing

“I object!” Ben lurched to his feet next to Suzie. She had to catch his chair to keep it from tipping over. What on Earth did he think he was doing? He glanced around the courtroom, looking painfully unsure of himself. When he spoke again, Suzie almost swallowed her tongue in mortification. “Dad doesn’t want me at all! He’s planning on sending me to Mendota as soon as he gets full custody. I know, because I heard him say it […]

By George! What to Do With a Tsar.

Last week Mr. Al talked about how poorly George IV got along with a certain Tsar’s sister, and hinted there might be problems because of it.  Let’s see what he meant. The Prince saw King Louis off  for his return to France at Dover, then returned to London to begin preparations for the arrival of Frederick William III, King of Prussia, Prince Metternich, who was representing the Emperor of Austria, and Tsar Alexander I. Having already received an unhealthy dose […]

Alaskan Clydesdale ?

This is the sort of thing I usually do on Mondays because it’s one of those forwarded email things, but I’m wondering what you think, so here it is on Talk To Me Tuesday. Here’s what I originally received along with the picture above: > ALASKAN CLYDESDALE > > > Only in Alaska……. This guy raised an abandoned moose calf with his horses, and believe it or not, he has trained it for lumber removal and other hauling tasks. Given […]

It’s been a very long time since I’ve held a contest. I was holding off until I got my blog moved and fixed up, but it looks like it will still be a while. I’m in the mood to do one now. Leave a comment anywhere on my blog between now and Saturday. On Sunday I’ll do a drawing and on Monday announce the winner. Anywhere? Yes, you could leave a comment on something I posted two years ago and […]

Mistake

Jack: Jill? Darling? It’s a bit late, but I’ve got your Valentine’s present ready. Jill? Where are you? Jack: Honey, I hate to say this, but I do believe you have made a terrible mistake. Don’t you know how dangerous it is to curl up with Gin? That cat won’t never leave you alone now. If you weren’t warm enough I could have fixed it up for you. Here, let me help. Gin: Merrrrow??? Today’s theme is warm Previously in […]

Suzie’s House 105: Breaking Point, The Second

Ben yanked at the knot of his tie and thought about puking. He’d never been so scared of anything as he was of this. He swallowed hard, but that didn’t make it any better. He’d been fine, holding it together, right up until the judge walked into the room.

Thurs 13: Done List

A couple of weeks ago I posted a to-do list for my TT. Gattina suggested I use the same list the next week and tell which I got done. So I gave myself a little extra time, but here it is, how I did with my to-do list from two weeks ago. 1. Final polish on Moving In. Yay! Done, and turned in. 2. Revise first 3 chapters of Zackly Right – Nope. Still on the list. 3. Write current […]

By George! Just Who Is This Grand Duchess?

Just how much of a fat slob could George IV be, now that he is Regent? – Alice If the Prince was put out by the behavior of his socially inferior chums, it was nothing compared to what he experienced at the hands of his equals. And at a time when he should have been enjoying wide acclaim. The year was 1814, Napoleon had been defeated and packed off to Elba. British arms, and gold, had proved decisive in the […]

What Did You Get?

For Valentines day, what did you get? Mr. Al gave me this great bouquet, dinner out with our daughter, and the next installment of By George! I gave him a chocolate bear. I know, I owe him big time. So, if you’ve got a Honey, what did he/she give you? What did you give in return? If you don’t, did you treat yourself? What did you get?

HTTPS

You all probably know this already, but I thought I’d share just in case. What is the difference between http and https? **The main difference between http:// and https:// is It’s all about keeping you secure** HTTP stands for HyperText Transport Protocol, which is just a fancy way of saying it’s a protocol (a language, in a manner of speaking) for information to be passed back and forth between web servers and clients. The important thing is the letter S […]

Banana Cake

The girl said it tasted like banana bread with frosting, but the entire cake got eaten in a day, and the banana bread never goes that fast. I think it’s a little fluffier. 2 ½ c flour 1 ½ c sugar 1 ½ tsp baking powder 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp salt ½ c shortening 1 c mashed banana 2/3 c milk 1 Tbsp lemon juice 2 eggs 1 tsp vanilla cream cheese frosting Mix everything from shortening through […]
