This is quite possibly the worst owners manual I’ve ever encountered. It isn’t merely “English as a second language.” It comes from a point of view I find frustrating at best. As my grandmother used to say, “If I didn’t laugh, I’d have to cry.” In the interest of sharing my pain, here’s a selection of what’s in the manual. 1.(From the very first page) This manual is one of the important accompanying documents. It would provide you accurate description […]
The year of 1829 marked both a high and low for his Majesty. While his health continued to deteriorate, his relations with his Ministers improved. At least after the contentious Catholic Relief Act was finally passed. But the improvement was quite gradual, and not all Ministers were treated equally. At Ascot he had “a whole party of Canningites in his house (box) and not one Minister. He gave a bad reception to all the friends of government who went to […]
I like the weirdness of this one. It’s just a regular office building with regular old cars parked in front, but night makes it kind of spooky.
I’m gearing up to write a book about a woman who has amnesia. Generally speaking, I don’t like to read books that include amnesia because writer’s tend to use it as a crutch, rather than exploring the nature of memory and the problems of those who can’t trust theirs. Since my own memory tends to be a bit hap-hazard, I have a good idea where I want to go with this. Still, I would welcome your input. Can you trust […]
Congratulations Pam R! You are the winner. Would you be interested in a copy of Real Vampires Don’t Diet by Gerry Bartlett? It’s a fun, sexy story about what happens when a Rubenesque vampire lady and a rock star vampire man get cornered by an ugly siren. If you’re interested, say so in the comments on this post some time between now and Friday. I’ll do a random drawing from those who would like it then announce the winner here […]
Remember how I complained bitterly a few days ago about snow? Twice already this season. Well, here’s what comes of it. The frost was so hard some trees skipped the pretty stage completely. The leaves went straight from green to dead. It’s like they were cut down in the prime of their lives.

This is my 81st Jack and Jill PhotoHunt. I’ve been doing it for just under two years. Jack and Jill have come a long way, but there are still things from the very start that are true today. . . . . . . The very first Jack and Jill there was so much going on in the picture, with so many toys that you could hardly see them at all. Since then they have been front an center in […]
“Drew is leaving?” Miranda couldn’t believe it. She stared at Suzie then at Ben in turns. “Why on earth is he leaving?” “Work,” Ben said morosely. He slumped over the kitchen table, one wrist wrapped over the top of his head. Suzie nodded. “His job here was temporary. He’s been re-assigned.” “Pft. As if that was reason enough.” Miranda didn’t wait for Suzie or Ben to respond. She marched upstairs to set Drew straight.
