The Devil’s Heiress by Jo Beverley p. 197

Yea Olde Construction Project

We have one of those construction projects going locally that never seems to change. According to the sign posted on the edges, there’s suppose to be a major hotel/shopping area going in, but all we ever see there are rocks. Most likely it was one of those grand ideas that crashed and burned with financial upheaval. That or it’s a weird practical joke, because sometimes the rocks move. Do you have any projects like that going on around you? Are […]

Suzie’s House 188: Buying Books

He found me in the tables set up in front of the Eastside branch of the public library during one of their sporadic sales. Ben hopped off his skateboard, tucked it under one arm, and ambled up with his oh-so-serious curious puppy look. “What are you doing?” He leaned over the table to see which books I’d pulled from the boxes set on the table. They were, of course, Romance novels. He wrinkled his nose and looked away.

13 from the Bucket List

Totally Random Picture: Adena from Food, Fun and Fotos posted a Thursday Thirteen last week that got me to thinking. It’s a bucket list. I’ve seen them before – lists of things you want to have done before you kick the bucket. This time I wondered, what should I put on my own bucket list? 1. Reach the top of Mount Everest. Think I could take a helicopter? I don’t want to climb it, I just want to be there. […]

Mr. Al Goes Exploring

He started working on another historical series, but I talked him into writing for NaNo, and seriously doubt he will be providing me with any new posts just yet. So I asked him to let me have any more of the kind of pictures I’ve been posting over the last week. Instead, he gave me this:

Home

Inspired by Belinda’s 55 last week. Home is opening the door and walking into a mess; Mr. Al’s newspapers piled and scattered, history books and potato chips, The Boy’s skateboard right where I’ll trip over it, The Girl’s entire shoe collection unavoidable as a toddler’s toys, My quilt parts draped over table and chairs. Panic! Better clean. Family will be coming to visit. The challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to write a story in exactly 55 words. […]

Hunting Season

Totally random picture: It’s hunting season around here. The other day my son’s best friend complained bitterly that he will be required to go out into the woods and kill things. He hates it, but he will do his best because that’s what is expected in his family. My own grandfather was an avid hunter, but by my generation, it had fallen by the wayside. It’s given me a different perspective on things like deer. Yum. Mostly, though, I wouldn’t […]
